Spring Term 2012
We are now busy with our Easter activities. We have made chocolate Easter nests and are currently making Easter cards and baskets. We are hoping the ‘Easter Bunny’ will deliver some surprises into our Easter baskets to take home at Easter! |
Our theme this half-term has been ‘growing’. We have also looked at how the children themselves grow and change. We looked at some babies (with their Carers) and considered what babies can do and what the Nursery children are able to do. We have also been growing corn and beans and the children have been watching them grow and checking they have been well watered. |
We had great fun on Sport Relief Day. The Nursery children did lots of activities around an obstacle course and this included football and basket ball. Everyone joined in well and we collected a tub full of silver coins to contribute to the ‘Silver Mile’ with the rest of the school. |
The road safety team visited the Foundation Stage and delivered a valuable role play session on crossing the road safely. The children joined in and listened well so hopefully they will remember this important message. |
To complete our fund – raising for Marie Curie Cancer Care we held a ‘Yellow Day’. The children brought a donation for the charity to the dress up in yellow. They also brought back their daffodils to show everyone. We also had a special assembly with the Reception children to look at each others daffodils and talk about helping others. We raised £92.62 for the charity. Well done everyone! |
The Nursery children all dressed up for World Book Day. Parents came to read stories to small groups of children and we all had a special story - time together where the Nursery children joined in with the words and actions to the “Little Red Hen” story. |

We have been doing many activities associated with our theme of Winter. We have played out on the frosty icy days and collected pieces of ice. Some children went in the tent to keep warm. We then went inside to make nice warm pasta with tomato ketchup. The children enjoyed both preparing this and eating it! We have experienced blocks of coloured ice in the water tray and discovered what happened to the ice when it got warm. |

The children have made icicle collages to go up on display in the Nursery and some in the main hall. We have decorated biscuits with icing and food colouring to make snowflake patterns. The children took them home to eat for their tea. We have dressed up in warm clothes ready for the cold weather. At last, this week, the children eventually got to play out in the snow and make a snowman! They really enjoyed this and had fun. |

Autumn Term 2011
In the Nursery we have had a very busy half term.
We enjoyed taking our ‘Bookstart Treasure Chest’ home so we can share books with our families.
Some children dressed up in their Eid clothes to show the rest of the Nursery children. We all enjoyed tasting some food that is eaten at the Eid celebration.
We have been busy with Christmas activities. We printed stars on a band ready to make our star hats.
We dressed up as stars for our Nativity play and enjoyed singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.
We are looking forward to the Nursery Christmas parties. We are looking forward to playing games and eating lovely food. We hope Father Christmas has time to come and see us at our parties!
In the Nursery we started the term with a ‘Welcome to the Nursery’ Coffee Morning organised by Mrs Dean (Parent Involvement Worker) and the Nursery Staff. There was an excellent attendance for this event with the children, their parents and siblings all enjoying the many varied activities. |

The Nursery children have settled well into the Nursery and have enjoyed doing many different activities in the continuous provision areas of the Nursery. These have included:- Painting at the easel Playing in the sand and water trays Making collage pictures in the ‘gluing area’ Playing in the home corner Playing outdoor on the bikes and other wheeled toys Having fruit for our snack and smelling and tasting a pineapple Playing percussion instruments in our music area |

The unusually warm weather a few weeks ago meant that we could play happily in the water outdoors and the children had great fun running through the shower that the ‘Crazy Flower’ sprayed out onto the playground. Lots of fun was had by all! (Staff included!) |
