Special Educational Needs & Disability Information

Welcome to the SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilites) section of our school website.

Shipley C of E Primary School is dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for children with SEND. We treat every child as an individual and strongly believe in the importance of providing a nurturing education setting where all children can enjoy, achieve and become lifelong learners. We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with the children, parents and carers and outside agencies so that we are able to work in partnership towards a common goal.

Don’t just take it from me – here is what our parents have to say about SEND provision at Shipley CE Primary School:

We could not be fuller of praise for Mrs Woodhouse, Miss Hoare, Miss Waters, Mrs Hudson and Mrs Grosvenor for the way they have supported our child with his dyslexia. A friend of ours, who is a specialist in special needs support, was (like us) very impressed with the speed at which he got an assessment and the support that has been put in place for him by the school. There has been a noticeable difference in the speed of his learning because of this support and we shared in [child’s name] Nan’s joy when a month ago he bought a Tom Gates book that he hasn’t been able to put down since.’

‘I can honestly say that the work they have done with [Child’s name] …has been fantastic. I could not fault the teaching staff for their efforts, he has reached all the expected targets and his mental health is the best it has been over the last 12 months.’

'A big thank you to Miss Carter and Mrs Woodhouse for helping my child to develop his confidence and social interaction skills.  They understand the needs of my child and tried to make his learning and development easier for him.  My son has made excellent progress and learned how to cope and manage with his daily difficulties.'
