Welcome From the Headteacher and Governors

On behalf of the school we would like to welcome you to our website.

Shipley is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School that celebrates its diverse multi- faith community. We pride ourselves in our family ethos and our love of learning.

We are a happy, safe and ambitious school. Our vision was created by the whole school community and we value the support of the whole school community in developing and delivering it. At Shipley, everyone is a unique individual and equally respected. Our curriculum offers a rich and varied range of opportunities and experiences to equip all learners with the emotional, spiritual and moral intelligence to lead them through a successful and healthy life. We value learning from each other and the world around us. Our creative, dedicated and approachable staff promote aspiration and achievement in all areas of learning and we strive to provide all children with an education that will enable them to be resilient lifelong learners.

Our children are happy learners. We deliver a curriculum which is driven by our school vision and values. Learning from the wider community in all aspects of school life is a priority for our school and supporting others where we can. Our links with St Paul's Church and the wider community provide opportunities to take our learning further afield. Our children leave Shipley with a strong sense of belonging, a thirst for learning and aiming high.

We don't stop learning, don't stop being teachable and don't stop growing at Shipley and beyond.

Collective Worship

During this difficult time for everyone we want to bring our collective worship to you. You can read it to your child or they could read it to you. During school collective worship we ask a 'Big Question' around the theme. You could continue this with your family and share your responses on class dojo. It is always good to take a moment in the day to allow yourself to STOP and BE STILL. Give yourself a little time to reflect on life as we see it at the moment. Talk to each other about your feelings. Talking will help us get through this together.

Week commencing 27th April

Peace be with you

 and also with you.

We meet in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I hope you are all still staying safe and enjoying the sunshine.

We are still looking at what happened after Easter and how Jesus appeared to his disciples. We are going to look at a story where Jesus had breakfast on a beach and forgave Jesus.

Please watch the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppb9bKX1r7k

In this story Peter let Jesus down but Jesus forgave Peter. I am sure at the moment you may be falling out with your family. It is really important that we forgive each other and make up.

Why don't you draw an outline of a fish on one side write sad and on the other side happy. Then look at the sad times and say sorry to Jesus for when you upset people and then turn the fish and think about all the ways you can make people happy and thank Jesus for the good times.

Dear Lord

We are sorry for when we upset people. Thankyou that you forgive us and are always with us.

Amen

Join in with the song below or even try doing the dance!  The song talks about how Jesus died on the cross and went to heaven so that we might be forgiven.

THE BIG QUESTION

How can we use the school value honesty when we fall out?

Week commencing 20th April

Peace be with you

 and also with you.

We meet in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I hope you are all still staying safe. This week we are thinking about what happened after Easter. Today we are going to look at the story of two of Jesus‘s followers walking along a road when they got a surprise!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34zqp750auM&t=5s

Cleopas and the other follower of Jesus did not recognize him. We can see Jesus in other people so when we help people we are helping Jesus.

If you go on a walk this week, think about God and everything he has made as you are walking. As you walk, past people give them a smile and wave remembering to keep your distance.

Dear Lord

We thank you that we can see you in other people and we thank you for all you have made.

Amen

Join in with the song below which talks about seeing Jesus

Jesus is the light of the world.

Lord Jesus shine upon us.

The Big Question

What have you noticed about the world around you during this new and different time?
