Welcome to Year 1. 

We are Willow Class!

The adults in Willow Class are Miss Ahmed and Miss Moore.

 

What are we learning about this half term?

In Maths, we are developing our key skills in addition and subtraction. We are also focusing on shape and place value within 50. By the end of the half term, we are hoping to be able to recall our number facts with fluency!

In English, we are exploring the text Tree: Seasons Come, Seasons Go. Our initial hook will be based upon parts of the illustrations of the text from the front cover. 

In Phonics, we are developing our reading skills through blending and segmenting words and sounds. 

In PHSE, we are developing our understanding of our what helps us stay healthy. We will be exploring what we can do to keep healthy in our everyday lives. 

In Computing, we are exploring the importance of online safety and our online reputation. We will be finding out about what we can and can't share online and how this information can be used by others.

In Geography, we will be building upon our understanding of the local area (Shipley ) and finding out about what makes it such an incredible and interesting place to live. We will be developing our map and field skills in this topic. 

In Science, we are exploring different animals and developing our scientific knowledge of the the different types of animals, their diets and their appearances. 

In RE, we are focusing on special places and what makes some places sacred to believers.

At the end of this half term, we will be taking part in DT Dazzle Days finding out about healthy eating and developing some delicious recipes!
